Our Picks Of The Best 4-Star Hotels in Venice Italy

There's no doubt that Venice is one of the most enchanting cities in Europe. It's really like another world, isn't it? Instead of streets you have canals, bridges, gondolas, and water taxis. Step out the door of your hotel and you're likely to be on the Grand Canal or Rio del Gesulti or Rio de la Vesta, looking up and down the channel at the life of the city.

We also want your hotel to have that same level of enchantment. After all, how often are you going to be in Venice? Of course we look for more than just enchantment in a hotel — we look for comfort, convenience and strongly positive guest reviews. These are our criteria for 4-star Venice Italy hotels —

  • Located where you really want to be in Venice. In the heart of the magic.
  • On the water. Venice is an island city and you might as well enjoy the view.
  • Found in travelers' favourite parts of the city, with a location rating of 95%-plus. Yes, that's how exacting our criteria are.
  • A travelers approval rating of 93% or more, with 100 or more reviews. (although some of these hotels have many times that count.)
  • 4-Star Luxury designation.
  • Free WIFI.

The results of our experience, research, and digging are here — the absolute best 4-star Venice Italy hotels. Trumpet flare, please…

Hotel Moresco

Hotel Moresco

Located on Rio Novo, tucked in behind the hustle and bustle of the Grand Canal, the Hotel Moresco is rated by guests at 96%, which we designate Superb-Plus! Right from the moment you see the exterior, the Moresco just shouts out charm. The furnishing, fabrics, and drapery compliment the outside of the hotel a real feel of Italian classicism. Yet, the bathrooms are as modern as today, as is the WIFI and the ventilation system.

With a pedestrian quay right in front of the hotel and bridges just steps away, it's easy to explore with the Moresco as your base. Even though you're on a secluded, serene rio (a river street, if you will), you're just a 7-minute walk from the train station.

A gem in Venice. This is an attractive, welcoming hotel, with staff that go out of their way to assist you in every way. After a long trip, a smile and complimentary drinks were just what we needed! We enjoyed using the lovely hotel garden, and the breakfasts were very good. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel helped us with car transport from and back to the airport at a fair price. They even gave us a gift upon departure!!"

Liassidi Wellness Suites

Liassidi Wellness Suites

With guest rooms opening onto Rio de la Pleta and a near-perfect 97% rating, the Liassidi easily makes our list of the best 4-star Venice Italy hotels. The entrance is from a quiet courtyard off a quiet street (but, then again, since Venice has no street motor traffic, all streets are quiet!), and we know you're going to love the spa-like tranquility.

Showcasing the best of modern Italian furniture design and decor, "serene" is the word that comes to mind. Adding to the atmosphere are the bathrooms with Turkish baths or incredible steam aromatherapy showers. Rooms are very large for Venice and the location is wonderful — guests rate it 96%.

Exceptional service! We enjoyed a fantastic 3-night stay with our 1-year-old daughter. The communication prior to our stay was good and we arranged a private transfer to the hotel from the train station. From the very first meeting, Renate was an extremely friendly and accommodating host — nothing was too much trouble and every request was met with a smile. The room was spotless, of a good size and exactly as seen in the pictures.All-in-all we could not fault either the premises or the service one bit."

Al Ponte Antico

Al Ponte Antico

You're right on the Grand Canal, arguably the most famous waterway in the world, and to your left you look onto Ponte di Rialto (the Rialto Bridge). We ask you, could the location be more perfect for visiting Venice? Although the hotel is in one of the quietest districts of historic Venice, stroll down to the bridge and cross the Canal and you're in a bustling marketplace in the heart of the city.

Al Ponte Antico is decorated in a classic, regal style — Louis XV — with patterned wallpapers, bed coverings and furniture — just what you might expect in an historic city in Europe. Of course you also have all the modern conveniences. There are four sizes of rooms. If you know us, you won't be surprised to hear that our favourites are the junior suites!

Venice charm at its finest! Hands down this was one of the best stays… we were definitely looked after by Al Ponte Antico! Beautiful room, breakfast and views. But the best thing was the staff who all knew our names. Mateo, the hotel owner, is one-of-a-kind with an infectious Italian charm. He was extremely invested in ensuring that all of his guests have the best time. We certainly loved our stay and will be returning. My words cannot express how nice our stay here was!"

Hotel L'Orologio

Hotel L'Orologio

Once again you're on the Grand Canal and in the center of all things Venetian. The Rialto Bridge is a short walk away, as are historic churches, palazzos, campos, and street markets. There are boats docked just outside your door and a lovely terrace on the quay. It's really the best of Venice.

Everything about L'Orologia is fresh, crisp, and comfortable. This is a brand-new hotel, built in an historic palazzo only two years ago. We can't get over how much we love the colours and furnishings of the modern interior — just what you need to relax in after a day in the hustle and bustle of Venice. If you can spring for it, we highly recommend the suites!

Great location, Rialto Bridge is about 5 minutes walk, but you are far enough away not to be bothered by crowds at your hotel. We paid extra for a room with a view and worth it. Our room had everything, including a large comfy bed, a shower that's hot & powerful and lovely big soft towels. Breakfast was good, staff were friendly, helpful and attentive."
