If you're like us, then you're going to love this carefully-selected list of the very best luxury hotels in London.

We don't only rely on our experience and expertise. We dig deeper and take into account what other travelers say; we determine what a hotel's overall rating is among a large group. Right-O, then. Let's get to the top luxe hotels in London —

HOTEL 41

HOTEL 41

Historic London location doesn't get much better than this. Just behind Buckingham Palace with the Royal Mews directly across the street. You're minutes away (7, on foot) from the green spaces of St James Park and Green Park, with easy access to the London you want to explore.

The 41 is done in black and white, but warmed with wood finishing and luxurious furnishings. The public areas are all upper crust charm, but no stuffiness. And talk about service — the 41 provides two members of staff for every guest. Service is rated by guests at an incredible 99%!

Easily one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Staff definitely takes the crown for why our stay here was so unbelievable. I loved that there's no sign and you feel like you are going into a residential building. From check in to check out and every minute in between, they made us feel special… If you are considering this hotel and it's within your budget… go ahead and book it. You will be glad you did."

Taj 51 Buckingham Gate

Taj 51 Buckingham Gate

The Taj (located at 51 Buckingham Gate road) is in three palatial townhouses, formerly homes to lords of the Royal Court. Like the 41 Hotel, it's very near Buckingham Palace (as you would guess from the street name), just a 5-minute stroll down Buckingham Gate. You're close to Mayfair and to the top landmarks in the city and Victoria Station is only 10 minutes away.

The Taj is all suites, and, believe us, they are sumptuous suites! They all overlook a private courtyard and feature large living areas, full kitchens, and some include large, separate dining rooms. Taj is an Indian-based hotel group, and that comes out in the richness of the furnishings and finishes. The Michelin-starred Quilon restaurant is also located in the building.

Exquisite place to stay near Buckingham Palace. One of the finest places to stay in London — near the West End and Buckingham Palace. You can easily walk to Green Park Station. The hotel is tucked away in a marvellously private courtyard…you feel posh and regal. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff goes above and beyond. Pricey but worth it."

Haymarket Hotel

Haymarket Hotel

Located on the other side of Green Park, in the Theatre District and very near the National Gallery, the Haymarket also has easy access to Trafalgar Square and the Charing Cross Underground Station (4 minutes on foot). Of course, the big parks are right there as well, and it's a pleasant stroll through them to Buckingham Palace. And just to give you an idea of how central you really are, the British Museum is a 9-minute walk. It's no wonder guests rate the location at 99%.

We think of the Haymarket as modern, bright, fun, and there always seems to be plenty of light.

Haymarket Hotel dazzles. Everything about this hotel was top notch. The hotel is perfectly located near key attractions, but not too in the middle of the tourist mess. The rooms are elegant and well appointed, with luxurious modern amenities. The staff is attentive, as suits the level a luxury hotel demands — they went over the top in every aspect. While it is not for budget travelers, the value of the hotel is well beyond what it costs. I will never stay anywhere else."

Charlotte Street Hotel

Charlotte Street Hotel

You're in buzzing Soho, the centre of happening London! Just as nice, it's a short amble over the Oxford street's famous shopping, a place we always head to when in London. Just so you don't think you're too far out, the British Museum is only a 10-minute walk away. Around you there are parks, shopping, cafes, restaurants, culture, and museums.

The Charlotte Street is hip, modern, and extremely classy. You can tell that from the moment you gaze on its inviting exterior. The levels of lightness and comfort are extremely inviting and make you want to come back for more. Travelers love the guest-only sitting room with an honour bar. And what other hotel has its own movie theatre?

Egerton House

Egerton House

Let's move a bit southwest, to the other side of Buckingham Palace, to the classy district of Knightsbridge. You're in a quiet neighbourhood of nice houses and pocket parks, feeling like a Londoner. You know it's classy because Harrod's is only a 3-minute walk away, along with other luxury brands. The science museum and Victoria & Albert Museum are only about 5 minutes away as well, yet Egerton Terrace is peaceful and serene.

At Egerton House you feel like you've landed in another era of luxury and service, yet with all modern comforts. The Egerton is located in a period house, and the public rooms reflect that level of coziness ind invitation. The bedrooms are all old English charm with lush comfort.

Quiet gem in a picture-perfect neighborhood. The Egerton House was a wonderful respite in London after traveling through the country. We found all of the staff to be very engaged and very helpful… Everyone was always courteous and very responsive to all of our requests. The location of Egerton House is excellent, yet it is located in a quiet beautiful neighborhood. It was like having our own pied de terre in London. We will definitely return there on our next London visit."
