Cotswolds Tours From London – A Day Out In The Country

London is wonderful, but sometimes it's nice to escape to the countryside on a day tour to the picture-perfect Cotswolds. Famous for its winding river valley, market towns, and thatched medieval villages, the Cotswolds typifies classic English countryside. It's no wonder the popular Downton Abbey was filmed here, and the rich & famous have homes here — including Lily Allen, Hugh Grant, Kate Moss and JK Rowling.

Expect picturesque villages with names like like Nailsworth, Tewkesbury, and (yes) Box; rolling hills criss-crossed with stone walls; and historic market towns. Just 25 miles across and 90 miles long, the region stretches from Stratford-upon-Avon to Bath and is easily accessible on a day trip from London. Here we present our favourite ways to tour the beautiful Cotswolds.

Have Lunch in the Cotswolds

Lunch in the Cotswolds

Perhaps this tour is just a tad decadent! But, that's why we love it.

Visit the quaint villages and see the honey-coloured stones and the rolling hills that make the Cotswolds so famous. Then, cozy by the huge stone fireplace and enjoy a traditional British lunch in a historic oak-beamed restaurant.

Continue to Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold to explore the charming cafes and boutiques. Nice touches include London hotel pick-up, a hearty British lunch, and transportation by luxury coach.

Visit Blenheim Palace & The Cotswolds

Blenheim Palace and The Cotswolds Day Tour

What we really like about this tour is the extensive time spent in Blenheim Palace, Winston Churchill's birth home.

It's a grand palace built during the Baroque period, (1705 to 1722) and is the principal residence of the dukes of Marlborough. Explore the State Rooms, see the priceless works of art, and stroll through the gardens where young Churchill played.

You'll also journey through The Cotswolds, seeing villages including Bampton, featured in Downton Abbey. Then, continue to the Little Venice of the Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-Water.

Wonderful tour. Warwick castle is magnificent. Most of the items exhibited in the Grand Hall are genuine. There are two trebuchets placed outside the castle make you wonder how they were used during medieval times. A trip to Oxford passing by The Cotswolds is an unforgettable journey. The picturesque landscape is very beautiful.
